The Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee (DSAMT) organizes The Extra Mile® to celebrate and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families and to promote understanding and acceptance of those with Down syndrome. Approximately 4,000 participants from Middle Tennessee are expected at this year’s walk, making it the largest Down syndrome awareness event in the state and our primary source of funding for our programs. The Extra Mile® will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 on the property of the Wilson County Agricultural Center 175 Peyton Road, Lebanon, TN 37087.

The Extra Mile® would in no way be possible without the help from all of our wonderful volunteers! We are thrilled with an expected number of 4,000 attendees.

Volunteer needs at The Extra Mile® include:

Set Up/ Take Down
Cheering on those with Down syndrome
Passing out information and prizes
Photographers
Registration/T-shirt Booth
Food Vendors
Trash Monitoring
Directing traffic/parking
AND much more!!

Volunteers will need to arrive at 6:30 a.m.

Each volunteer is guaranteed to bring smiles, joy, and laughter to so many families at the walk. Each volunteer must register online and agree to the terms. T-shirts are limited this year due to supply issues, but we will give t-shirts to as many volunteers as possible.

Liability and Media Release*

In consideration for being able to participate as a volunteer in The Extra Mile® at the Wilson County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 24, 2026, I and/or our organizations agree to release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue DSAMT their volunteer workers and paid staff from any and all liability for any and all loss or damage, and any and all claims or demands on account of injury to the person or property or resulting in death of the undersigned or issue of the undersigned arising or related to the event, whether caused by the negligence of releases or otherwise.

I agree to allow DSAMT to photograph, record and edit, through any available technology, me and/or any organization representatives in attendance. I agree to allow DSAMT to use our images, likenesses on internet websites or any resulting publications, television programs, video or any event publicity for the purposes of education, promotion and fundraising. I agree that our organization will not receive remuneration for the use of my images, likeness or information by DSAMT and that all rights, title and interest to the photos and videos of the undersigned's image, likeness or information and use of them belongs to DSAMT. I understand that this release pertains to all available recording and distribution technologies now and in the future.
